About this Opportunity

The EMS Principal Environment Engineer provides central coordination for lower environment support across time zones driving issues to resolution through collaborative root cause analysis and application of systemic fixes to reduce repeating breakages and reduce system downtime. This is performed via creation, monitoring, and acting on systemic health checks through automation, event/alert notifications, and dashboards. EMS also increases cloud environment resource efficiency and drives down cost by identifying and acting on improvement opportunities through monthly cost and infrastructure resource reporting, shutting things down when not in use, and working closely with artifact and service owners to optimize usage and cost.

 

What You'll Do

Collecting environment artifacts to be monitored and configuring (or ensuring configuration of) artifacts for appropriate events and alerting both on premise and on cloud

Continual monitoring of environment artifact alerts and events through various dashboards and notification subscriptions and acting to address directly or work with lower level support teams to drive to resolution (inclusive of root cause analysis and problem mgmt.)

Obtain knowledge of applications and environment required to provide L1/L2 support by detailed environment and application reviews and knowledge transfer sessions with application owners.

Providing support for complex business processes across various platforms and technology suites that may run at high frequency and across time zones

Creation and management of lower environment L1/L2 incidents/issues via organizational standard tooling and processes and socializing appropriate statistics

Coordinate Impact Assessments to assess level of impact of environment various changes

Report on cloud resource ownership, utilization and cost for lower environments

Mitigates risk by following established procedures and monitoring controls, spotting key errors and demonstrating strong ethical behavior.

 

Sound Like You?

Minimum of 7 years of related experience

Bachelor's degree in IT / Computer science preferred.

 

Additional Qualifications

Expertise in supporting core technologies such as UNIX/LINUX, Java, Web and Application servers, Message Queuing, ETL, databases both on premise and on cloud.

Expertise in ITIL change and incident management models (incident and problem tickets, root cause analysis)

Expertise in alerting and event monitoring models and technologies such as SNOW and Splunk
